The Lamborghini Huracán LP 580-2 – Rear Wheel Drive Fun

“The Lamborghini Huracán LP 580-2 continues the Lamborghini tradition of pure, visionary and technology-driven models,” says Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini. “The rear-wheel drive model fits perfectly into our Huracán family, appealing to those wanting an even more intense driving experience, or who currently drive other rear-wheel-drive marques and aspire to driving a Lamborghini. This is the purest expression of a Lamborghini to date, with class-leading technological refinements. It is a serious car for serious drivers: it is maximum driving fun.”

Lamborghini say that the new  Huracán LP 580-2 has been engineered to provide an ‘essential driving experience’. The engine is a naturally aspirated 5.2 litre V10 producing 426 kW / 580hp. Coupled with the fact that the Huracán LP 580-2’s dry weight is just 1,389 kg (33 kg lighter than the four-wheel-drive version), this new Lambo will be a lot of fun.

The Lamborghini Huracán LP 580-2 Design Upgrades

In collaboration with  Lamborghini’s aerodynamic experts, the designers at Centro Stile have honed and tweaked the Huracán to produce a design that is noticeably different previous versions. The large, newly formed front air intakes specifically direct the cooling air and headwind to increase down pressure on the front axle. The spoiler lip at the rear works together with the rising diffuser in the underbody to improve airflow around the rear of the car. This rear spoiler is fixed in position.

The wheels are also new. The Huracán LP 580-2 sits on new 19” Kari wheels which enhance the dynamism of the car’s design. To envelope these rolling works of art Pirelli have developed special PZero tyres specifically for the rear wheel drive variant of the Huracán. To cap it off the brakes have been redesigned to reduce weight reduction and improved cooling.
