Fiat Ottimo: What is it & Will Australia Get it?

Fiat Ottimo: What is it & Will Australia Get it?

The Ottimo is a medium sized hatchback that Fiat sells in China. It’s a car, like its sedan sister the Viaggio, that is based on the Dodge Dart platform and judging by the images we have seen since its launch at the 2013 Guangzhou Motor Show it looks to be a tidy, stylish vehicle. In many ways it looks similar to the Alfa Romeo Giulietta – not surprising at all when you realise that the Alfa is based on the Dart world car too.

Fiat Ottimo Australia

The big question is will it the Fiat Ottimo come to Australia? Well, the answer actually lies with Alfa Romeo and what its future model line up looks like. Fiat-Chrysler would be crazy to introduce the Ottimo into Australia with the Giulietta already on sale here, it would devalue the Alfa and cannibalise its own sales. But if, as widely reported in the industry, there is a major product shake up afoot at Alfa with a move to higher end, rear wheel drive cars (read more about that here) then the mid-size Fiat hatchback could quite nicely find a home here to battle it out against the Golf and Mazda 3.
