Happy Birthday Topolino
Fiat a hosting an international event in Turin to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the original Fiat 500 “Topolino” . The even is being organised by the “Ling80” Committee and will take place from the 16th to the 19th of June 2016.
The iconic little car became the symbol of motorisation for the masses in Italy. It was Fiat’s first economical car to be launched and it represented a revolution in how cars were made and perceived. With the new baby Fiat motoring was put within reach of millions of people and gave them access to unprecedented freedom.
The anniversary celebrations will start in Fiat’s equally iconic Lingotto motor plant, the place where product of the the 500 began way back in 1936. More than 250 baby Topolinos will drive to the top of the building and around the world famous test track on the roof
The following day the cars will be drive from the Lingotto factory to Pralormo Castle. The parade will be lead by the very car owned by the Topolino designer Dante Giacosa, which is now on show at Fiat’s Heritage Centre.
